A prosthetist is a person that has been certified to fit prostheses to residual limbs of the upper and lower extremities. Prosthetics is the science of using mechanical devices with human muscle, skeleton, and nervous systems to assist or enhance mobility lost by trauma, disease, or defect. Prostheses are typically used to replace parts lost by injury, missing from birth, or to assist weak body parts. The minimum educational requirement to become a prosthetist is a four and half year degree registered with rehabilitation council of India from recognized university.

A prosthetic evaluation includes:

          * determine impairments

          * review of functional limitations and disabilities

          * understand the health related conditions

          *  measuring the patient

          * determine the risk assessment

          * movement analysis

 Intervention by a prosthetist includes:

          * Casting the affected body part

          * Constructing the best suited device for your needs

          * Evaluated the fit and comfort of the device

          * Long term follow-up and care for your prosthetic device

 The prosthetic device will be made on site at Jaya Rehab during your stay. The complete fabrication and necessary adjustments will be completed during your inpatient or outpatient treatment. The prosthetist works in a team approach with the on-site Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist to ensure the patient receives the best prosthetic care.
